So, New York was a great trip! We sang to a cab driver, sat in the serenity room (see the picture :) and giggled alot.
Oh yeah, we also went to Sloan Kettering and got alot of great information. Cristina decided to take a different approach to her surgery after talking to the doctors there. Information is a good thing and it has helped her sift thru all of the different ways to handle the surgery and the aftermath. They will not take out her cheekbone (yeah), but they will remove the maxilla (no, not the jawbone either). Also, she has opted to not have the reconstruction using a piece of her legbone. They will use a different approach.
The good news is that the doctors at Sloan Kettering know her surgeon at Johns Hopkins and they speak highly of him. He also performs this different approach. Some of the pluses include a shorter surgery time and shorter stay in the hospital. The down side is that she has to change the surgery date, but it will probably only be another week away.
So, when we have those dates nailed down, we'll let you know.

Thanks Shelli for the update. As long as Cristina understands mostly what is going on and she is good with the plans then that is part of the battle. We thank you so for being there for "our friend". Laughter sooths the soul and you guys do it well. So Reese and i want to come and pick you guys up - will you sing for us too? It has been far too long girl friend. We love you and think and pray for all the "steps"...
